
More than 1,500 students received degrees Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5, during the spring UNO commencement ceremony. The two-day graduation weekend event is a new tradition for the university. News Release

UNO's Mallory Kountze Planetarium will give the public an opportunity to watch Venus cross in front of the Sun on June 5. The astronomical event occurred most recently in 2004, but will not occur again until December 2125. The show will take place from 4:30 to 8 p.m. in the Durham Science Center. Planetarium Website
Students from Papillion/LaVista's Zoo Academy spent 2011 working with Dr. Alan Kolok and UNO's Aquatic Toxicology Laboratory at the lab's Elkhorn River Research Station. With the official dedication of the station in April, more partnerships like this one are planned for the future. YouTube Video
UNO's Keith Fix, a senior management major and creator of DailyMav.com, was honored with the University of Nebraska Peter Kiewit Student Entrepreneurial Award on Friday, May 11. The award recognizes University of Nebraska students who have worked toward community and business improvements through creative, innovative uses of information technology. News Release
