What a tremendous year for UNO Forensics! We are thrilled to share that during the 2007-2008 competitive season, the UNO forensics team won over 200 trophies, 40 event championships, and demonstrated competitive excellence at many prestigious tournaments. We are proud to announce that for the first time in the program’s history (dating back many decades), UNO placed in the prestigious top 20 at the American Forensics Association-National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET), placing 13th in the nation.
Five UNO competitors advanced to elimination rounds at the AFA-NIET. Lauren Ackerman (Sophomore; education major) won third place overall in Program of Oral Interpretation. Teresa Oberdorfer (Senior; education major) finished in sixth place overall in Poetry Interpretation. Buey Ruet (Junior; political science major) advanced to semifinal rounds in Persuasion, placing in the top 12 in the nation. Matt Eledge (Junior; education major) and Cameron Logsdon (Freshman; speech communication major) advanced to quarterfinals in Poetry Interpretation, each placing in the top 24 in the nation.
